Subject: Relaxation in Department of Posts Postman and Mail Guard (Group C Recruitment Rules, 2018 for existing GDS employees.
Sir/ Madam,
Consequent upon notification of Department of Posts Postman and Mail Guard (Group 'C post) Recruitment Rules, 2018 on 20,09.2018, a number of reference:; have been received regarding relaxation of provisions of Column 7 of the Recruitment Rules. Educational and other Qualifications required for direct recruits for existing GDS employees.
he matter has been considered and it has been decided by the Competent Authority that following relaxations may be provided to all such Gramin Dak
(GDS) who were engaged prior to 20.09.2018 i.e. the date of notification of said Recruitment Rules:
a) GDS with 106 standard pass shall be allowed to appear in the competitive examination, if otherwise found fit;
b) GDS without license to drive two wheeler or light motor vehicle shall also be allowed to appear in the competitive examination. However, a candidate not having valid driving license at the time of appointment shall not earn periodical increment in pay till production of such license or for a period of five years from the date of appointment whichever is earlier and after production of such license or expiry of such five years period, pay shall be restored prospectively to the level pay would have reached had the periodical increment in pay was not withheld and no arrears of pay shall be paid for the intervening period.
3.. In view of the above, circles are requested to take further necessary action accordingly. Further, if any notification has already been issued by the postal circles for conducting the examination to fill up posts of Postman and/ or Mail Guard and such examination is yet to be held, last date of seeking applications from eligible candidates shall be extended and if necessary, date of examination may be postponed.
